Falls: Their Impact, and What You Can Do

This presentation will focus on the growing concerns of falls among older adults, their consequences, and strategies for prevention. Topics that are highlighted include risk factors, prevention strategies, community resources, and ways to get involved. With a focus on falls and their relationship to Parkinson’s disease, attendees will gain information about identifying their personal fall risks and takeaways for working toward preventions.
Kristin Srouji, MPH works as a Program Manager at the Centralina Area Agency on Aging with a focus on the organization’s health and wellness efforts. With a background in psychology, social work, nutrition, and public health, her passion for wellness brings a multi-faceted perspective tot he work that she does with older adults. At the Area Agency on Aging, she emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention, by expanding the read and access to evidence-based programs to older adults in the community.
Molly O’Day, MSW is an Aging Program Coordinator with expertise in falls prevention and aging services. She works at Central Area Agency on Aging’s fall prevention efforts through multiple fall prevention home modification programs and as a Master Trainer for Matter of Balance. Molly also co-leads the Metrolina Falls Prevention Coalition, advancing community efforts to reduce fall-related injuries among older adults.
